When he was 12 he joined the Colours teen performing arts troupe under director Jason Cook, it was from there he chose to pursue dance and was accepted into the dance program at Suitland High School’s Visual and Performing Arts Program. After graduation he received a full scholarship to the prestigious Ailey School where he studied all genres of dance and choreography for three years and has had the honor of performing with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in the piece “Memoria” as well as appear in the book “Men in Motion” by Francios Rousseau.

CJM: I have another Chase Model in the house. Introduce yourself to the viewers.

KYLE: What’s going on beautiful people!!!!!!! My name is Kyle Seeley better known as “Grim Chim.”

CJM: How long have you been modeling and where did you meet Chase Pix?

KYLE: I’ve been modeling on and off since I was 9, I met Chase Pix through the site ModelMayhem.com. I was really impressed with his work and how he truly captured the beauty behind every single model. I messaged him on the site and he told me to come to the next test shoot and the rest was history. LOL

CJM: You not only model but it was stated in your bio that you have skilled training in dance, am I right?

KYLE: Yes!!! I have been dancing since I was 12 years old, I am trained in ballet, modern dance, jazz, west-african, hip-hop and contemporary techniques along with knowing how to step.

CJM: So do you teach dance?

KYLE: No I actually don’t because my schedule will not allow it, but while I was attending the Ailey School I worked as a teacher’s assistant for the Junior Division and loved watching the kids be inspired to dance at such a young age. I felt I got into the game kinda late.hahahaha

CJM: How do you stay in shape?

KYLE: Well being that I’m not dancing all the time like I was when I was at the Ailey School it truly has become my own self discipline. I go to the gym twice a week, take Ballet and Sheryl Murakami’s class at Broadway Dance Center twice a week and do 60 inclined push-ups off my bed every morning along with stretching, if you don’t use it you loose it. LOL

CJM: How do you feel about being featured on this site?

KYLE: I feel very honored and humbled, this is actually my first interview ever so I’m very excited and at the same time nervous that I don’t say the wrong thing… LOL

CJM: Describe your personality.

KYLE: Well I am very outgoing, I also try my best to be optimistic in the worst of situations and if there is no bright side I try to make one hahahaha. I am very loyal and try my best to not burn any bridges of people

I look up to and feel have positive influences on my life like Chase, Sheryl Murakami, recording Artist Tonyè and Brentley as well as one of my songwriting mentors Nick Brandes to name a few. But don’t get on my bad side because at the end of the day I’m still from DC (hahahahahahaha jokes jokes jokes)!!!!

CJM: How important is family and friends to you?

KYLE: Oh man family and friends…true friends are everything to me!!!!!!!! I can honestly say my dad and both of my moms are some of my best friends. I have a big complicated family of four brothers and four sisters. Plus my best friend for life Kiah is my family, I look out for her and she looks out for me, I feel you have to have that living and trying to make it in a city like New York, it is so easy to be caught in the glitter, gold and beautiful people that you fall off track of the reason why you came to this city in the first place…….. to pursue your dreams. Also my family I live with my auntie Nette, Cuz-uncle Jamie and cousin Saunny keep me going in the right direction, I wake up every morning and consistently grind for all of my friends and family because I’m already a star in their eyes even when I’m not one in my own.: )

CJM: I was trying to focus this interview around modeling but you do so much. Give me the skinny on your music?

KYLE: Well I am a singer/songwriter, I would consider my work to be radio ready pop and r&b songs, however I have been collaborating with a few alternative independent singer/songwriters that want a different touch on their new material. I have written for independent artists as well as major label recording artists. Currently I am with a new up and coming production team called Writers Block and working on new material to shop around to recording artists. I’m staying behind the scenes for now because I feel there still is more I need to learn but I will be coming out with my own songs soon enough so watch out!

CJM: What were you doing time at the and your reaction to the death of Micheal Jackson?

KYLE: Oh wow, you just hit a sensitive spot with me on this question. Well, I was at the movies on 42nd street with friends and just when we were about to go in I overhear someone saying that he died. I initially blow it off because there are lord knows how many crazy people in NYC looking for attention, then I get a swarm of text messages saying that he died, I called my dad and he says it’s true then I called my aunt and she says it’s not, that he just went into cardiac arrest. Not a minute later she calls me back to say they confirmed his death. Later on that night I go out to a club and they are playing his music and as I get on the train heading home I put on my Ipod and start playing my favorite MJ song “One day in your life”, I just bursted into tears right there, he was the reason why I am what I am today. To remember him I have I quote of his on my left chest saying “Thinking is something a dancer should never do, you have to feel it-Michael Jackson.”

CJM: What advice do you have for up and coming models?

KYLE: The same advice that I live by everyday, dreams can come true but it’s not going to happen if you wait for it to come to you, go out there and grind as hard as you can and it will happen. Also put aside your ego at times because that can very well be your worst enemy for achieving your goals.

CJM: If you could model with anyone in the entertainment world who would it be?

KYLE: I would have to say Pharrell Williams, I love that dude’s style.

CJM: If you could write a song for any artist in the industry who would it be at this moment?

KYLE: HHmmmm my bank account wants to say Beyoncè or Rihanna but I’m going to go against that and say Jojo, it’s weird but alot of songs I write I always think would fit her really well. hahahaha

CJM: What would you change if you could change anything in the world?

KYLE: I would end the AIDS epidemic, there have been too many lives claimed by this terrible disease.

Me and my boyfriend had a row of beers and got into an argument before I went out with friends last Saturday. I left in a rage. I’d had a few more drinks at the club and when I got back to his apartment we argued again except this time I attacked him. I punched him in the face several times and I also bit him. His face is cut and bruised and he won’t talk to me. He never put his hands on me so I know he loves me. I love him more than anything in life and I hate myself for smacking him around. C.Jay I’m worried he might break up with me, what should I do?

You should find a new man! ROTFL Sweetheart he is gonna leave you! I’m just saying! SMH Would you stay with him if he Chris Brown-ed you… Hell No! If your boyfriend’s face looked anything like Rhianna’s looked a year or so back after her scuffle with a fist and teeth he should be pressing charges on your crazy butt! Not only have you violated him by hitting and biting him, now he has to walk around looking like Battered & Abuse Smurf explaining why his face is messed up and you look perfectly fine. You better hope he don’t have no ghetto sisters because if he do they may be on their way to your house to whip your tail! HELLO! Love don’t physically attack anyone so you obviously don’t love him or you have a twisted way of showing it. Alcohol allows you to do things that you wouldn’t normally do with a sober mind. Since then we’ve chatted several time but nothing came of it and after 3 years we finally met each other in person. When we met in person 3 months ago I found out he’s seeing someone. He’s 24 and his lover is 44. He expressed to me that he’s happy but when he talks about his relationship He doesn’t seem like he is. I never thought of him in any way other than a friend.

Yesterday I took him shopping for his b-day and bought him several expensive items and today I bought him a pair of $600 GUCCI sneakers. I’m doing things that I would do for someone whom I’m in a relationship with. Today we spent the whole day together just like yesterday. I held his hand in a taxi, tickle, play fight, we almost kissed several times. I’m at he and his lover’s house hanging out. His guy just left to the store and the moment he did we got to flirting with each other. Play fighting and almost kissing again. Ughhhhh. This is so not like me. I’ve been cheated on and the guy who my ex cheated in me with knew me, been to my house and called me a friend. I feel bad for doing what I’ve done. I’m glad notglad hing ever happened. I’m afraid if we keep it up it may. I don’t why wrong with me. I don’t want sex from him nor a relationship. I feel like I just want to kiss him and cuddle with him. It’s like dry infatuation. He’s cute and physically my type of man!!!!!! Cj help a guy out!

-MAKING IT RAIN ON FACE BOOK

Well first off my name is C.Jay, not Cj… I’m just saying! SMH How you gonna ask me for advice and you don’t know how to spell my name? I’m pretty sure if you look at the top of this page you will see the correct spelling sir. HELLO! Do you know the quickest way to piss somebody off is to mess up the pronunciation or spelling of their name? Well now you do buddy! SMH Mis-pronounce Toowaulkinassia (To-Walk-In-Asia) Jenkins name if you want too! LBS Let me skim through this story again… I didn’t know FB was the “New Dating Network,” the majority of my friends I know personally. Sheesh… Okay, who in the world has three years to chat on FaceBook before they meet in person? Apparently yawl live in the same city what took yawl so long to meet? All this hiding behind the computer has got to stop! What happened to the old fashion way of meeting somebody at church, the gym, store, etc? People create these facades over the internet to sell to humanity so they can interact with individuals whom they wouldn’t normally be in the class to interact with in the real world. Not saying this is you but I had to say that. Now in your case you survived three years of online chats to seeing each other in person and you find out dude got a dude… LOL Although he told you he was happy dating Bill Cosby you have taken it upon yourself to decide he is not happy… who are you? LBVS I guess Hetro and Homo relationships are similar especially with this “I’m better than the person you’re with” philosophy.

So now you buying Gucci shoes for your FaceBook-Boo and flirting at his guy’s crib… don’t be bogus… not at their dwelling place… no respect. SMH What is your motive? You should leave it alone before something happens just like you stated in your own question. At the end of the day I believe this whole created situation is all an ego game to get this guy to be yours. It’s all about individual power over another which has nothing to do with having sex or sexuality; it’s about getting something that you want… the Challenge… the Conquer… equals Coveting ways. Nine times out of ten after you buy him to your side it won’t turn into anything serious and he becomes homeless and jaded because you broke up a happy home… Find someone else to cuddle with and quit buying random FaceBook patrons $600 gifts before this becomes a norm. I’m just saying! By the way didn’t you say you were cheated on? You know what… why am I spending so much time on this when you didn’t even know how to spell my name! I have said all I’m willing to say on this. Good Luck! SMH

I’ve read everything. I can’t lie, I love literature by U.S. Blacks, and so I indulge myself, but I read EVERYTHING. From Indigenous American authors to classical Japanese authors. I think it’s important to know your own literary traditions well, but to never box yourself in. As far as the literary tradition of Blacks in the U.S., I think the first authors that I read, who opened my eyes to the idea that I could actually become a writer, were James Baldwin, Alice Walker, and Ntozake Shange. I had always loved to read but, when I introduced myself to these writers and their work, I began to think more critically about the cannon and about my own circumstances as a black girl in this country. I think this happened in 7th grade. I always say 7th grade because I had read the Autobiography of Malcolm X, which LED me to these books.

I realized the difference between people writing to say something about our existence as human beings on this planet, and those that wrote primarily to entertain. I don’t think those two things are exclusive. I do believe, however, that truth-telling should never be compromised, and I began to see that many of the new urban pieces didn’t accurately reflect our existence.

What Baldwin, Walker, and Shange did for me was introduce me to the idea of the image and DEEP self-reflectin. I didn’t know that this what was was happening, then, however. I just knew that their writings were not so different from the poets that I had also begun to read like the Black Arts generation, who I discovered in anthologies (Baraka, Sanchez, Giovanni, etc.), and even some older poets like Angelina Grimke. Their prose was as poetic and truth-telling as any poem. As legitimate as any Shakespeare (and more releavnat to me, I thought), or any Mark Twain. They were “American” as much as anyone else. That’s when I realized that, what I had previously understood to be “American” was, in fact, very narrowed and excluded myself. These authors helped me to see the racism, sexism, and other forms of intolerance that I had internalized. I think that is what good writing does; rather than preach, it requires an audience, produces a questioning, and only the readers of the world can answer.

We arrived at Kicks Indoor Soccer Arena not knowing what to expect when we showed up at the Lady Houston Panther’s last tryout on this past Saturday February 11, 2012. The doors opened at 9am and it was time for us to walk into the gym. I accompanied my sister LaNetta and my right hand, Lady Carter in their quest to gain a professional contract playing for this newly formed Women’s Football Team. At first glance it seemed like tryouts would be simple and quick because there were only a handful of girls to compete against. There was a lot of nervous energy in the air as the participants set on the bleachers waiting with anticipation of being registered to participate in the picking of the newest members of the Lady Panther Family.

Click here to follow me on Twitter!

As about twenty girls stood in line awaiting instructions I begin to eye a beautiful caramel-toned fit female with long flowing hair dressed in black athletic attire. Seconds later she began to instruct the women on the process of registering and I could tell she was not only a Lady Panther player but a major leader in this organization. I learned her name was Zipporah Chase the Spokesperson and Captain for this Lady Arena Football League. After a few questions of clarity tryouts were definitely in full effect. After signing release forms, paying fee, receiving Panther’s T-shirts, taking pictures, and being numbered the women headed back to the bleachers only this time the handful of contestants had turn into a mob of almost 200 bodies. We overheard Zipporah say, “This turnout was way bigger than the first one held in December,” and we could tell that this would be an interesting experience.

Lady Panther Hopefuls: L.L. White, Bone Krusher, Chelsea, London, & Lady Carter

While returning to the bleachers we were joined in our section by additional participants. “Wow did you see how many people showed up bro?” my sis said as she returned to the arena with number 97 written on her arm. I had noticed the increase of women. The participants represented all ages, races, body forms, and creeds. Many girls began to stretch and play catch while the girls who surrounded me began to talk to each other as well as myself about how they felt about what was unraveling before their eyes. About 30 minutes later the female football hopefuls were called out to the indoor arena turf to join the coaches, staff, and trainers to start this contracted selection process.

Zipporah Chase Captain of the Lady Houston Panthers.

What I loved about this Lady Houston Panther experience was the love being shared among the women on the field. They were giving each other football tips and cheering each other on even when other contestants failed at a drill. It showed me you can put a group of like-minded females together and they can co-exist without ‘Cat Fighting.’ At the conclusion of the event the ladies were brought into a circle and were told that the selections would be made by this Wednesday February 15, 2012. They were also told by Ms.Chase that there was room in the company for who all wanted to be apart and the various positions would also be paid… who can beat that? I think this team will promote Female Unity not only here in Houston but wherever this team sets it’s foot in a seductive but tasteful manner. No matter if you like football or not you should be at their first game in April of this year. Trust me it will be worth attending.

I’m trying to market myself in the Entertainment World…

Can you give us up and coming entertainers some pointers in order to get started in the industry?

-NEXT BIG THING

1. What makes you and your talent different than what we see in the industry thus far? You must have talent. Many people think that they are talented and are not. New talent is popping up every day so you must continue to perfect your craft. Stay current and know the changes in your particular entertainment genre so that you will be able to present your talent at any given time at its best. Knowing these changes will give you direction set you up for success. Don’t talk about what you do, present it to the world every time you get a legit platform. Make sure you have current samples of your work. You should always be creating something with your talent and documenting it in different forms to be reviewed. Always polish and find ways to enhance your particular talent to get the best out of it. If you don’t use it you will lose it!

2. Who are you? You must have a bio and resume. You have to be able to tell the world who you are on paper. You may need to take time to look over professional biographies on different websites or find someone who is good at writing them. Your bio should tell who you are, current living location, credentials, accomplishments, skills, and anything that will spark an interest in those reading it. You can always use a bio to accompany a resume to serve as a cover letter. Make sure you use excellent grammar and use spell check. The worse thing is to have a well written miss-spelled bio. After the finished product make sure this is how you want to be represented because this will be needed when trying to market yourself to anyone. Always be truthful. Your skills will eventually put to test.

3. Do you have quality up-to-date photos of yourself? People look at pictures before they read anything. I guarantee you casting agents or industry scouts look at Headshots and pictures before looking at biographies and resumes. Humans are visual creatures. You need to invest in your image. You change every day so those pictures you had done last year won’t cut it in the present moment. If you have the money I advise you find a photographer who can deliver you a killer photo shoot. If not you can use a digital camera and there are many photo editing computer programs that can transform your pictures into professional looking images. The image you create in these photographs should be how you want to be presented to the world and don’t create an image that you can’t afford or live up to. A true artist doesn’t lay down their alter-ego to be a regular civilian. You have to become who you are on paper and photo 24/7 to make it in entertainment. You should be continuously taking photos of yourself so you are visually accurate in the eyes of your viewer.

In conclusion Talent, Bio/Resume, and Photos should from this day forward be the pillars of marketing yourself in the Entertainment Industry. If you need promo and you would like to benefit from this Web Magazine. Get your interview, be seen, be heard… Promo as low as 20! Hit me up at Takenovaproductions@gmail or leave info in comment box below or feel free to ask questions below!
